marantz cd273se compared to rega planet (original)

I bought a Planet sans remote in 1999 and found my "Oneforall" remote worked it as well as my Naim equipment and the TV & VCR (mind you it had to go to Holland as I recall to be re-programmed for these less commonplace bits of kit!).

well, I'm a bit gobsmacked - and must thank you again, Retrospective, for prompting me to try it once more.

just listened to a wonderful Barbara Thomspon cd from 2000 (jazz / tango fusion - beautifully done), and I'm not sure I've heard anything better during my haphazard muckings about with 'hifi'.
an absolute privilege to have listened to reproduction of that standard (quite apart from the music ;)). Lots of other factors involved obviously, but nonetheless, the 160 looks as tho' it'll do - hope it keeps going for while yet!
