Good coffee, good hifi, good bikes......

Good coffee? Check: Londinium I espresso machine, Mahlkönig K30 Vario grinder and freshly roasted beans from a local roaster. Did try roasting with the iRoast2, but figured that the small microroasters do it better and I'm lucky to have a few close by. Good Hi-Fi? Check (at least to my ears)...

    DAC/preamp with DSP

Even more costly will be the new DSpeaker Anti-Mode X4 (unless that is what you were referring to). More connections, also does DSD, etc. Br, Teme

    Turntable platform?

In theory, yes. But in practice? Even Linn changes their mind occasionally, don't they? Wasn't soborthane a no-no with the LP12? Yet Linn now uses it on the Trampolin 2 as well as the Urika if I am not mistaken. Weren't DC motors also a no-no? Yet the Radikal is topping the range today. There...

    Turntable platform?

Seriously? Your comment reminds me of a dealer who is able to tell that your system is crap without seeing your room or knowing what your system actually consists of. The only thing he needs to know draw his conclusions is which Linn components (if any) you have in your system. Care to guess...

    Turntable platform?

I've been positively surprised by the Pro-Ject Ground-It isolation platforms under various pieces of equipment. I currently have one under an LP12! Although most would say it's a no-no I think it actually works. It is reasonably priced, too. A linky...

Vinyl not sounding up to par...?

I doubt that a non-adjustable phono stage would load (low-output) MC's at 47kohms as I imagine very few cartridges would work with it. I think the loading that your pre has for MC carts is 100 ohms...

Vinyl not sounding up to par...?

The deck, arm and cartridge really are decent pieces of kit, so if set up correctly they should sound great. I suspect that the phono stage is a bottleneck as Charlie above suggests. This review also suggests that the internal phono stage of your pre isn't up to much (the review is for the...

    Static on my LP12

I guess (and this is a guess) it is due to the removal of the dust & other particles in the cleaning process. This leaves less stuff on the record to interact with each other and cause static electricity. I have also found differences in the amount of static after wet cleaning between RCMs. I...

    Static on my LP12

I agree that the humidity of the air (or rather the lack thereof) plays a big role in the amount of static. Another thing to consider are the fabrics one wears, sits and walks on or has around the deck - a new carpet or a piece of clothing that you wear might also be a cause for static...

    Analogue Planet cartridge blind-test

The identities of the carts have been revealed: http://www.analogplanet.com/content/nine-cartridges-compared-reviewed-and-voting-results Interesting that only 12% picked the Caliburn, Anna and Ypsilon combo. To be honest, it was not my top choice, either... Br, Teme

    Dynavector p75 mkII

No problem. My pleasure. Mighty fine phonostage that little P-75. I thought I'd want to upgrade from it when I upgraded my cart from the DV-20X2L to the Akiva, but it just sounds so good that I still have it :) Br, Teme
