Master of Malt now have the Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire 10 at £28.36. A very decent smoky dram at that price

The Wine Society Cognac and Armagnac

The Baron de Sigognac armagnac (10y) is very good, esp when discounted to below £40.

Cider - recommend me some decent cider

The Sandford Devon Scrumpy is worth a try as not too sweet and has a reassuringly traditional vibe.

    Worst thing you bought.

An audi a3 with 80k on it. Within 18 months had to replace gearbox, dual mass flywheel, head, turbo.. Probably the worst decision I've ever made, which is a comforting thought

    For vintage outdoor gear nerds....

I still have an old (80s) Phoenix Phreak tent that my kids still use. Anyone else had one?

New to DACs which one upto £500

Didn't get a chance to compare the two. My previous cdp was an avondaled arcam alpha 3, which was very musical, so I was concerned that the extra detail on a new dac could lose that. Fortunately my concerns were unfounded. I'm also particularly impressed how realistic cellos and sax sound. One...

New to DACs which one upto £500

To add to the huge list of makes, I went for an NJC-Audio Reference dac and have been very pleased with the balance of detail, warmth and musicality, all for just under £500 and supports a UK company

    Hats

Also look at Brazilian Tarp Hats. I've had one for about ten years and it's been brilliant whether trekking though jungles in Mexico, or fly fishing in Hampshire. https://www.tarphat.co.uk/products/1/Wide-Brim-Tarp-Hats/1/The-Original-Amazonas-Tarp-Hat

A thread to catalogue the eloquence, dignity, diplomacy and wisdom of Boris Johnson: IV VONC

Love #51 Johnson called the proposed changes “relatively trivial”, and then called the changes “absolutely vital”, like some sort of Schrodinger’s twat

    Whisky II

Would definitely recommend. I have the previous batch of the seaweed-and-aeons-and-digging-and-fire-and-cask-strength-10-year-old-whisky and think it's excellent. Have already bought a bottle of the current batch for succession planning.

    Day visits in Scandinavia, suggestions?

The Vigeland sculpture park in Oslo is a fun place for a picnic.

A thread to catalogue the eloquence, dignity, diplomacy and wisdom of Boris Johnson III

Some may find this but to suggest "anyone" is just pandering to class war rhetoric and hyperbole. Even worse, such an attitude discourages state school kids from applying. My daughter did her degree and masters at Cambridge, finishing last year, having gone to a very average state comp and found...
