    Hi Fi Wigwam

I'd like to add my thanks to James for his provision of HFWW until Sunday. I was a happy member, and as a moderator elsewhere, I can understand his issues and wish him well, whatever he decides to do. I hope Scalford can be continued in some form. Roy - Oldfogey there- sandgrownun here.

I thought it was a very good programme on his life and music, in the context of the times and trends during his lifetime.

What concert have you last been to #2?

    Cal Tjader

I'm a fan of Tjader's work with Brubeck and particularly after he started the vibraphone with Shearing. I'm less familiar with his later music, but thanks for the reminder.

It's a big subject, and there's lots of suggestions already. I'd add Oscar Peterson's Solo album.

    Bohuslav Martinu

Martinu's output was large: opera (least known part); chamber music and symphonies. Here's a set of the symphonies that can be recommended: http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2005/oct05/Martinu_Thomson_CHAN10316x.htm Naxos have done a decent series of the chamber music.
