    Utopia Strong heads-up (again)

Crikey! There's a blast from the past. I haven't really been on here in years, but still treasure the first Mugstar album that you managed to get copies of, all those years ago (many thanks!). Last saw them two years ago in Glasgow and hope to see them in Liverpool next April for the psych fest...

    Phono Stage with Headphone Amp

Haven't posted here in years, but could do with some advice. I haven't been playing much vinyl recently. Two reasons, my phono stage (LFD Mistral) packed in and I reckon a repair would potentially be money wasted when I could buy a new one. I was using the tiny NAD as a temporary stand in, but...

    Shahinian Arc Speaker Connections

Many thanks for the replies. I wouldn't have thought of looking inside the connector and after having a look, the colour is wearing off.

    Shahinian Arc Speaker Connections

Stupid question time. After disconnecting my Arcs for a while for some decorating and also changing cables, I am aware that the connections on the speaker base aren't marked in any way, nor coloured red/black. Any other owners advise on the correct connection to make from my amps back / red...

    Single-malt drought

Agreed. Some outstanding whisky to be had from them. Not exactly supermarket prices, due to the single cask bottling's, but well worth it.

Courier Shipping - Signing For Goods

Well, I managed to write unchecked along with my signature. Looks more like three year-old signed for it though.

Courier Shipping - Signing For Goods

Yeah, I meant more along the lines of, the box looks fine, but unless you plug it in and try it out, you won't know whether the (in this case) DAC won't work. Event he most patient of couriers would give up with that one. Hopefully it will all be fine.

Courier Shipping - Signing For Goods

Thanks for the advice. It will be delivered to a reception, unless it gets launched through the door! I'll take photos if anything untoward is apparent.

Courier Shipping - Signing For Goods

Since I have a package on the way, I though I would ask this question. I was advised to ensure the package is signed for but not inspected, just in case the kit has taken a battering between points A and B and no longer works. I assume most couriers try to get it signed as inspected? The package...

    Single-malt drought

Whilst on the subject of non age statement malts, I used to love this one, as it was one of the few (heavily!) peated whiskys you could get for under £20. Unfortunately, there only seems to be a few bottles around now and the price is climbing. I have no idea of it's age, but since Ledaig have a...

    Single-malt drought

I think small batch releases are becoming ever more popular and unfortunately, the rising prices reflect this. I'm tending to go for these small releases, usually cask strength, when I can. Usually from The Good Spirits Co My current fave distillery is Linkwood. There are some lovely malts...

    Your favourite Hendrix live album

You're right, it's actually been a looong time since I last listened to any live Jimi shows, other than the odd official release that I have. I cannot remember which ones stood out now. Been too long and too much new music has passed under the (Rainbow) bridge. Agreed.

    Your favourite Hendrix live album

Very true. With the abundance of variable quality Hendrix bootlegs out there, the idea of Dagger was to release some of the better sounding ones, without them actually having to be part of the main Hendrix catalogue. However, with live recordings (bootlegs), sometimes the performance...

Poppy Ackroyd - Brilliant instrumental music

Poppy's music is just as wonderful live, as it is on album. She also plays with Hidden Orchestra, who are amazing live. Well worth looking into. Funnily enough, they are playing the Citadel Festival in Victoria Park today. http://www.hiddenorchestra.com/...
