    Streaming: Qobuz, DLNA, UPnP etc

I’m no gamer, but with the growing amount of smart tech that uses WiFi, it can add up. I’ve 30-40 devices connected to WiFi just now with lights, plugs, cameras, washing machine etc. Then add basic services routing, dns, usb, dnla, fire walling etc….That BT smart Hub 2 is rocking a 2007 Arm...

    Streaming: Qobuz, DLNA, UPnP etc

Provider supplied routers, hubs etc are anything but reliable in my experience. I’ve had BT, plusnet, Now broadband supplied devices and all have been the bottleneck. They are made to a price and may deliver an adequate service in small low use set up, but that’s rarely the case these days...

    Streaming: Qobuz, DLNA, UPnP etc

Hi Tony, when I looked at upgrading recently (from google / nest Wi-Fi), many were recommending the Eero kit that Amazon do as an replacement and the consensus was it was solid and stable in comparison to Google. The ones I looked at had dual gigabit ports, but that may be ok if you’re using...

Car buying; does anyone enjoy it?

I don’t really enjoy the process and avoid time in dealerships as much as possible. I don’t buy new, so tend to identify the car / spec I want and then find a year old car from a main dealer by searching online. There is a price premium for buying in Edinburgh or the central belt of Scotland...

    Car - going electric

Zappi is what I am putting in, single phase 7KW along with solar & 13.5KW of batteries. To be honest charging at cheap overnight rates is fine for me, but I appreciate the point on not relying on solar for car charging.

    Car - going electric

Given your criteria, a late BMW i3 will be in the £15-20K range. Don’t bother with the REX, a full BEV is fine. DC fast charge @50KW is fast enough when required. I charge once a week or thereabouts at home. Solar and batteries going in next week, so will leverage that for charging at home...

    Vans - Camper Conversions...

I’m thinking about converting a van, will likely be a newer type LWB sprinter. I’ll likely convert rather than buy converted to get the design and layout we want, full size shower in the rear, specific kitchen, solar and battery etc. We bought a camper new in 2018 and sold last year so have a...

    Mediterranean diet cookbook

Another vote for Ottolenghi. ‘Plenty’ is one my wife uses a lot, although it’s all vegetarian recipes.

what was the last piece of hifi you bought

Not HiFi as such, but looked into TV via HiFi and decided for simplicity to go an alternative route with Sennheiser Ambeo Plus Soundbar. V happy with result.

Austrian Govt support for tech repairs

Great initiative, rather than thrown broken stuff away, the Austrian Govt will fund €200 towards a repair. The City of Vienna also runs a separate scheme - which works in a similar way and helps people pay for repairs to old clothes, bicycles or furniture. Love it...
