You could buy the well regarded Supra USB cable ( £38 ) and their newly introduced Excalibur model ( £99 ) from Furtureshop
It won't break the bank , if you hear a difference, send back or sell on the one you think sounds worse
i marginally prefer the Excalibur but i'm aware my testing was not...
although we all know you are technically correct what almost everyone else in this thread means by the shorthand term "valve DAC" is a simply a DAC with a valve output stage in exactly the same way the difference betweeen the 2 versions of the Rega Isis DAC is the valve output stage in one of them
I had 801D with the single 15" driver. A fantastic speaker if you had a room and Amp big enough. Upgraded to 802D2 as was moving to a smaller room. A more transparent speaker. Upgraded again to ATC SCM50's. Midrange noticeably superior.

@tiggers i have been going through the same process as you and had the ATC40A's on home demo. very impressive, dynamic and even handed. Being sealed box they can sit close to walls
As Keith will no doubt echo i would buy a Umik-1 and measure your room with REW software. It will tell you what you...
Back to talking about the Jays, i am in the market for a new CD Transport and considered the Jays Audio. I decided against it in the end. It's large physical size and short guarantee counted against it despite many positive reviews. I decided to go for a Pro-ject CD Box RS2 T instead, Smaller...
