One thing worth metioning the distance to the back wall should be different from the distance to the side wall. Personally I would move the left hand speaker another 8" from the side wall and move your sofa a few inches away from the back wall
This could be the answer. I suffer from this after many years of listening to bigish speakers in smallish rooms and still haven't fully recovered to be honest. I would give it some time and maybe listen to other systems before you sell / add subs or spend a lot of money on treatment/electronic...
No the CDP doesn't have inputs (that comes with the CD9). Straight from Oppo to the Preamp. I know not a 'pure' comparison still interested to see how they compare with the same recording.
that's exactly the point. There will always be a market for high end CDPs whilst people have sizable CD collections and decent kit. CD Players can be serviced. Why would I want to invest in a new format now ?
My opinion on the OP - there is a small market for expensive CD players and the decline of CD as a format refects what the masses are doing. I own a 'high end' CDP and have no interest in Computer Audio or Vinyl and likely never will. I bought an ARC CD8 recently for a fair wedge and very happy...
The D28s were also downward firing. I didn't have any room treatment in that place. Are you sitting against the back wall ? It will help if you can move the sofa/ listening position out a bit (I sat against the back wall in that place)
