Has anyone compared the Yamaha CR-2020 with the Marantz 2070? They both look gorgeous.I shouldn't have any combatabilty problems with my monitor golds being only 30 watts? If anyone could let me know their thoughts on these two and preference to either it would be appreciated.

Thanks totoman. The only yamaha audio I had was a cassette deck. It was near the budget end of the range but it was getting very good reviews. Could not believe it sounded so much better than my cd player. Know what you mean about the sound but it just sounds right somehow. Jim.

You could try an Antelope dac. I have the Zodiac Gold with the Voltikus power supply which makes a surprising improvement in sound. I am very happy with this combo but from new it takes an age to come on song. Not sure whether you could get them both even used but their are others down the range.

Who knows if you or mine opinion is right. We do get attached to our own system sound. If they ask what you think then be subtle and ask them to hear your set up and see what they think.
