    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

Cables are a Supra Coaxial and an Amazon Basics optical. Benchmark locks properly to a Sony Bluray player on Coaxial and to a Samsung tv on optical, if that's any indication. WRT Streamer, no problem, I totally understand (am waiting for an MDAC2 myself). If there's anything lying around that...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

John, thank you for the suggestion to try V0.90. It worked better than A.010 (Benchmark LED not flashing anymore), but clicks (or is it pops?) can still be heard every 3-10 seconds (more frequent on 24/96 material). I guess I could try other firmware versions in the hope one might work, but I...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

Just returned to where the MDAC is located and can report version A.010. No report of USB Buffer Flush error. I don't hear the clicks via the MDAC audio output.

John, any progress on this, please, since June 19?

Sony Bluray to MDAC via Coaxial to Benchmark via Optical/Coaxial: Benchmark input indicator flashing but no audible pops, sounds OK. Sony Bluray to Benchmark via Coaxial: Benchmark input indicator not flashing, no audible pops, sounds OK. USBridge to MDAC via USB to Benchmark via...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

MDAC SPDIF output Mdac working properly through headphones. Anything else I could check? I have disabled Decorrelation and LSB Restoration, don’t see any other relevant settings in the menu. Is this a hardware failure, or simply too much jitter in the DDC function? I wonder if any other MDAC...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

John, it was working properly last time I checked. Out of town at the moment so will check soon. But I believe it will be working alright. As I said, I get sound (and some clicks) from the Mdac’s SPDIF output into the Benchmark, but the Benchmark is complaining of issues in data transmission.

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

Mdac can be used, according to the manual, as a USB to Coaxial converter. I tried to use it to connect an Allo Sparky (the RPi-like board of the USBridge) to a benchmark DAC3 using either optical or electrical SPIDF. Unfortunately in both cases the input light on the DAC flashes rapidly...

John, I trust the glue will have settled by now? :p An update would be great - my thumb is sore from refreshing this page :)

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

I find a Sony Bluray player slightly better sounding than a battery-powered USBridge in my system and thought it might be attributed to the interface. I'm open to experimentation, though. That would be terrific, John, thank you. You already have my details, but let me know how I can send them...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

@JohnW thank you for your quick response! I have paid for an MDAC2 Audiophile High Resolution Audio Streamer PCB with HDMI Video implementing a customised RPi CM3 (A03), as described in http://mdac2.lakewestaudio.com/mdac2_streamer.htm. DAC: Benchmark DAC3 (USB is also available but I would...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

JohnW, I'm finding myself in need of a new ethernet to coaxial SPDIF streamer for my DAC. Considering I've sponsored your streamer, do you have any suggestions what I should do/buy now?

For me amd other Roon users Detox is already obsolete. John, perhaps your design lends itself to adapting into an Ethernet interface? Currently available examples include https://jcat.eu/featured/net-card-femto. This is only by way of example, and is not an endorsement (I have not used this...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111001)

John himself sums it up best over at the Roon community forum in November 2017: I’m retired now and just dabbling to prevent boredoom + I love HiFi and have a very loyal band of users of my designs. I can design hardware until the cows come home and I also have inhouse SMD production line, so...
