    Klipsch La Scala (part II)

Hey Tony - am coming to this thread a bit late, bit congrats on the LaScalas - as you are finding out, hi efficiency horns have a certain je ne sais quoi. Too bad I came in late, as you could have saved quite a bit of dish and built these which are getting great reviews with several guys I...

    AVO CT-160 repair needed

Hi - anyone know of a good service technician that can repair a recently blown AVO tester for a friend? I think it blew the mains tx, any leads for replacement parts for those?

    Altec 19

You're welcome! Just do some reading on the Altec forum about people who have re-capped their M19 xo's, and the results they saw! And then get a nice PP valve amp!

    Altec 19

Nice! Did you end up rebuilding the xo? When M19s came out, they had a foam insert that surrounded the horn. Replacing this smooths out the response somewhat. See info on the Altec users forum, and here is a quick link, but there are many others that go into more detail...

From the SN, I would guess your unit was made in late 1966. Check the date stamp on the underside of the chassis for exact numbers.

Flush strobe are early, raised strobe later. Look at the SN on the deck underneath the platter, and I bet it is four digits or low five. There is a three number date stamp on the bottom of chassis, and you can tell the year and week of manufacture. First digit is the last digit of the year and...

    Altec 19

LOL! And I am negotiating on some Altec 1005 horns right now... could mate them with a pair of 416s for my 285L boxes my 604s are currently in! :D:cool::D

First thing to do would be to check the drivers for vc rub, and to put a multimeter across the drivers to see if the have the proper R. If all is good, and they look fine, buy them! Then you should replace the caps in the crossover. Also, make sure the resistors are all in spec. Dont make...

Wow, very nice. Amazing how the recessed 401 thing has taken off. It almost makes me want to top-mount mine!

Replace anything that is rubber - as it wont be doing a very good job after 50 years or so. http://perfectsound.co.uk/store/3/

    Garrard 401 plinth?

Hi Neskor - that second link you posted is my plinth. I agree with Tony and 3D - I dont think you want the deck "bouncing" independently of the arm. Personally, I dont think I want my deck bouncing at all.
