    Old-timer silly question: Modern DAC v CD3.5

Hi there Ibbots, Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I would be interested in differences/thoughts especially re: the MDAC vs. the Bushmaster (vs. the TeddyDAC you chose). I hope it's of more general interest.

At last... (Audiolab) - part VIII

I have another question, if you will bear with me: how much will the updated (OLED) CD and CDQ cost?

At last... (Audiolab) - part VIII

I'm sorry if this is already answered, but I can't go through the whole giga-thread. My question is: Is the new, updated 8200CD equal in performance to the new CDQ, or the CDQ still has the edge sonically? Thanks in advance.

    New Densen XS CD Players

Hi Comfortable, I don't even live in the UK, but thank you for the invitation anyway! As for the digital inputs, maybe I didn't get it right, but you have the player home, don't you? Could you give a little bit more info on the inputs (number, type, etc.)?

    New Densen XS CD Players

Hi Comfortable, I've heard only the best about the B-440, so I wish you years of enjoyment. And I hope you can answer my question: what kind of inputs does it provide? Thanks in advance.

    New Densen XS CD Players

Densen's head honcho Thomas Sillensen has posted that there is also a "cheap but good" DAC module on the way for the Densen amps (installed instead of the surround boards). That is, if you have one.

Hi there, Is there any news on the new range's prices and what kind of inputs they have?

At last... (Audiolab) - part III

Hi Dawg, in fact I do use a DAC -a Beresford TC-7510. I'm sure the 8200CD or CDQ will be an improvement on CD playback (I now use an old MF E601 as transport), but, as I mostly play FLAC or vinyl nowadays, I wonder how much improvement I will get over optical compared to the Beresford... Anyone...

At last... (Audiolab) - part III

I've read repeatedly that the sound over the coax or optical inputs is not as good as when playing CD or using the USB input. Problem is, I use a WDTV Live as a streaming device that only has an optical out, and I don't want the SQ of the streamed music (flac) to be so different than CD. Any ideas?

Thank you Chris, Although now that I think of it, this way I can't use my sub... I send the signal to it via the pre-out of the integrated. The CDQ seems to create more problems than it solves with my current setup, if I am to use its full potential. Pity.

At last... (Audiolab) - part II

Re: CDQ, I ask for a confirmation. My integrated (Densen B-110) allows me to bypass its preamp stage via a "Processor In" input, thus working as a power amp. On the other hand, it has an internal phono stage with which I'm pleased and wouldn't want to upgrade at the moment. So, if I have...

Thanks for the input, but your conclusions would have been far more reliable (also to your own self) had you brought your Beresford DAC with you to the dealer's and done some A/B. Now, you simply CANNOT know which part of the chain made the difference!
