This sounds to me like the rewiring/link cutting on the passive crossovers in the speakers has not been done correctly. There should be absolutely no connection between the treble unit and the bottom set of speaker terminals, but there seems to be. Ed.

Kytes do use a Vifa treble unit. They are fixed in place with a sticky Hylomrt type gasket sealant which needs a bit of force to break. The 2 wires are soldered.
