"I'd do it but not for quite a while.... too much on with other stuff right now"
That's good to hear, I just looked you up. I'm 90 mins drive away in the Eden valley - could drop it off with you, no hurry. Thanks, David
Hi thanks for that. Yes I replaced the 5A fuse and the new one immediately blew again. All the other fuses are fine, so there's some other fault. I'd like to get it fixed and looked at. Its been a while since I was posting on this forum. I'd appreciate any pointers. I'm not sure if there's an...
This packed up yesterday. The thing I think might have caused it was switching on the wall socket plug while the power button was still 'on'. One of the 5A fuses indicated is clearly blown, other than that, I have no idea. Is that consistent with a power spike? Can attempt to replace that fuse...
I've stuck some self adhesive little pads on the bottom of Larcs

The banana plugs I already had are a bit too long for the cabinet to sit flush on the floor. There isn't the clearance you get with the other...

I have the Akurate DS going straight into HX75 (75 W) driving Arcs. I preferred that combo over inclusion of a pre-amp. Tried out three, including L200, with no improvement (and I'm only using one source - the DS). I'm gonna loan the new ADS/1 over weekend to see what improvement that brings.
I've had ARCs since 1993. Replaced them a month ago with a pair of.... ARCs. Sold the first pair to a chap at work. There was a time pre-ebay/www when I thought I couldn't give them away.
Has anyone tried them with Bryston? I'm running them with a 2B SST which is doing a better job than I...
You're right, just remembered. But I thought balanced XLR connections were only better with longer cable runs. But Rothwell do an attenuator for that too. Would also need a pair of balanced cables but willing to explore
Thanks, Michael. Yes I looked in the Manual also. Don't know if it helps but a comfortable listening volume with my speakers is about 55-60 (on the 100 scale) but I need that comfortable listening volume to be at 80.
Would someone here offer to make me a fixed-value in-line attenuator, like a Rothwell, or possibly interconnects, to attenuate line-out levels from a Linn Akurate DS (output impedance 300 ohms) direct into a Meridian 557 power amp (input impedance - i don't know)?
Linn have released beta...
