I prefer not to touch the signal if i dont have to. Any kind of processing has the possibility of adding additional errors into the signal. Even crossovers in speakers are damaging, but we are stuck with them. Also filtering cannot rectify certain issues, such as boundary effects and reverberation.

The measurement positions between those two are slightly different as the mattress treatment pushes the microphone position forward slightly. But other measurements where they are the same, such as these, show the same drop in energy from 60hz to 400hz.

I made some more measurements, with some improvements by playing with the speaker angle. It seems obvious to me that bass treatment is required. So bass traps would likely be the best option. Then there is some decay around 500hz and above. Which using absorbtive material i had, showed that...

Interesting. But just sounds more complex than hes making it out to be. And still has compromises (equipment specific). If subwoofers can be integrated correctly, i think its definitely no comparison. But its difficult.
