    chord 1,000,000 taps

As others say, more taps give a more accurate reproduction of the original analogue signal. I have progressed from a Chord 2qute to a TT2 them adding an Mscaler. Music has got more natural and accurate. I regularly go to live classical and jazz performances so I have a constant reference to the...

    Epos or Kudos?

The Kudos Cardera series speakers C10, C20 and the ‘supers’ are current models, listed on the Cymbiosis and Kudos sites. The X series are no more. No big loss to my ears as for the same money they were out performed by Proac or PMC. I have Super C10s, 23cm from the rear wall and and am...

My experience of Lingo 3 vs Lingo 4 - sort of

I moved from Valhalla to Lingo 4 with a very noticeable and pleasing improvement -this was with a white liner bearing. Subsequently fitting the Karousel bearing gave an equally pleasing and vfm uplift. I had already fitted a Tangerine sub-chassis. I got the sub and Lingo 4 used so they were...

Naim SNAPS Avondale dual rail woes

I've been running a tpr4/snaps for about 5 years with the original Naim fuse - a 2amp slow blow. Good luck with sorting this out!

Ortofon Quintet Black S - any users here?

I did not find any undue sensitivity with VTA and the Quintet black. Setting the arm parallel on 180g records gives a very slightly more pleasing sound with thinner ones, perhaps? I think it's a nice cartridge and good vfm. I would consider a Lyra Delos next time, just for a change?

    Upgrading the DAC

I had a 2qute. It transformed the sound of my Arcam CD machine and rekindled my interest in improving my sound system. I did try a different power supply - a large lead acid battery. I could hear no difference so I assumed Chord’s expertise with power supplies matches their prowess with DACs...

    Linn LP12s – Fire away!

I fitted a Plateau sub-chassis, then a Lingo 4, then the Karousel with about six months between each change. The biggest change was the bearing followed by the power supply. All very worthwhile but the Karousel to me is a fundamental step in optimising an LP12.

DIY Linn T Kable - Tonearm Cable

I have the original cable that came with my Ittok. It is wired as Paul R says. Also there are actual numbers on the body of the connector as per the photo in Cloth Ears post. Maybe because it is a special DIN connector it is numbered differently?

Ancient LP12 - home diagnostic checks and possible fettling ?

As you say looks like an unmodified deck from 79-80 apart from the springs have been changed to the later (improved) black ones. I have a slight later one which I have gradually improved. In my experience springs, oil and setup would be a good first step. Your springs may be OK but they are...

    Respraying Ittok Headshell

Presuming the head shell is aluminium alloy, using the correct etch primer is vital to get a good bond for the paint. Apart from that it should be fairly straight forward. Epoxy filler sounds like a good idea. I am thinking of doing this, I.e. dismantling the arm, painting the head shell and...

    Respraying Ittok Headshell

Seeing J7 no longer does internal rewires on Ittoks, how feasible is this as DIY?

    Sanding your vinyl records....

I have just tried this and it works. I have a copy of Talking Heads, Fear of Music rendered unplayable by my carelessness resulting in a scratch caused by the stylus. I used 1500 grade emery paper wet (tap water) until the scratch was removed, then washed with deionised water/IPA. It now plays...
