    Have I blown my blind brother's m6 500i amp?

deserves to be restated - i think any pinkfisher in the area would be happy to help

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

InSides said: "It relies on using springs to maintain horizontality, and said springs can have varying compression rates set with screws. The entire armboard is then connected to the turntable base using POM (Delrin) fasteners of a sufficiently large diameter to facilitate minute changes to the...

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

seconded. for one of my 3d printed arm bases I actually had a sprung base, mainly so i could get really fine tuning on arm height - i moved away from that, but actually, might return, as it worked really well and certainly sounded good - key relevant point here is that the screws for the springs...

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

I like all of those, and would add Zenith & effective length (unless Zenith is part of the fine tune at step 6) - how much this affects sound is related to the stylus tip shape, but as more and more carts have some form of micro-line, the more zenith matters - its also an annoying fact that as...

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

:) I can confirm that, so far, no Colnago's were harmed...but my old C50 with clear coat carbon is sitting in a lockup, so maybe for the next version of the arm.....

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

back to your topic, i like the idea of instructions around our 4 points, and although not easy do, i always like a challenge :) One thing that would definitely have helped me (and probably still would) is a well thought out logic on the order you should adjust each parameter - i.e. should VTF...

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

Latest version of the arm looks like this key differentiator, and not easy to see from the perspective of the photo (sorry - am working in Denmark this week so cannot snap anyting better), is that its kinda dynamically balanced - the rear of the arm basically extends as far as the front (its a...

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

btw - just checked your profile and was massively impressed with your TT & Arm - I have been building my own arm, using 3d prints, ad its now in v4 and sounding much better than my SMEV, but your effort is seriously beautiful and deserves real credit - beautiful job!

Computer aided turntable / cartridge setup?

cool question.. for some years now i have used the Feickert Adjust+ SW, now no longer available, and this also uses an LP to work alongside the SW, but without as many parameters as Analog magic, and at significantly less cost. I have looked at analog magic and it looks very good indeed...

    Charles Mingus in Europe, 1964

outrageously good post.......the idea of revisiting any live performance especially mingus, on their anniversary, is genius. I am working abroad this week, so cannot join the festivities, but wish everyone an enjoyable and challenging listen :-) the idea reminds me of constable gardiner's bach...

    Silver Foil Speaker Cables anyone?

made some cosmetic and functional updates: if you were wondering why they are blue/white and not red/black, its because they are the connectors from the speaker to my external x-overs, not from the amp - other cables will have other colours (red-black and green/yellow)

    A Thread for New Jazz

...and i was listening to it yesterday (on vinyl) - side 1 is a constant whenever I want to evaluate a change tot he system. Hard to pick a standout, but Theon Cross' solo on track 1 always blows me away......

    Silver Foil Speaker Cables anyone?

i have not measured it, but will be very high - these are designed for use as low-inductance for amps that can manage high capacitance without oscillation - Naim users please look away now.... thanks for the "neat" comment. I will admit that it took me a while to find a way to make 70mm foil...

    Silver Foil Speaker Cables anyone?

Hi awkward - I used 40mm braid (refers to how it fits round cable) , which expands (and loses about 20% of its length as a result) and gives a decent fit on a flat 70mm foil - i heated the ends so they did not fray. but further action was not needed as I threaded it over the copper foil- it gets...
