I’m hoping Starmer can press the issue at pmqs today, is there not though a danger that if the greased pig squeals it out again, it is in danger of becoming more embedded?

like Trump he never backs down. best use a different line of attack on him. Gove, Johnson and Mogg are the triumvirate of scum running this corrupt operation.

Surely somewhere there has to lurk a photo of a grinning Boris with his arm around a thumbs aloft Savile?

It was interesting that Raaab, on Radio 4 yesterday morning, wouldn't repeat the slander despite being pressed repeatedly to do so. He knew it would be slander if he said it without the protection of Parliamentary Privilege.

Similarly Gove, who is managing to perpetuate the slander by backing Johnson's right to say it, while carefully avoiding repeating what he said.

They really are despicable excuses for human beings and I'm ashamed to be part of the same species as these people.
It’s what they did with Corbyn, they relentlessly over years smeared him as a terrorist sympathiser. their friendly non dom rancid press barons amplified the lies.
While they attempt to link Starmer with Savile in the public consciousness, let’s not forget Margaret Thatcher slept under the same roof as Savile for over a decade. If that’s not a failure of judgement I don’t know what is.

The difference with Corbyn was that the "trough dwellers" on his owned side joined in, he was a threat to the rigged economy they benefit from. If Starmer was a politician offering genuine change there would be no shouts of injustice.

An interesting snippet on the BBC about the No 10 / Met relationship https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-60229473
Priti Patel and No 10 both had concerns about leadership at the Met, and discussed whether or not to try to find a new commissioner.

There was widespread anger over the force's handling of the case and the treatment of female protestors holding a vigil for Ms Everard, who was killed by a former Met officer Wayne Couzens.

But it's understood that both Ms Patel and Boris Johnson were unenthusiastic about the likely internal candidate, senior Met officer Neil Basu, who had previously criticised the PM's comments and was seen in No 10 as "too political", sources say.

In what way was he so different? He didn’t believe in democratic reform or accountability and showed all the evasion and duplicity that has existed in UK politics since Thatcher and Blair. Sure. He had a marginally better manifesto than usual, but that done he couldn’t even stand firm against the ethnic nationalism and xenophobia that was sweeping the country. A useless “leader” who deserves all the obscurity he now inhabits.

Apologies for quoting from the Mail, but it was a story on the RAF intercepting 4 Russian bombers. Gotta love this bit though ..... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...scramble-intercept-unidentified-aircraft.html
Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesman, said the Russian President is ready to provide explanations on the situation in eastern Europe 'even to someone who is utterly confused' after Mr Johnson cancelled a call with the Kremlin on Monday.

And Maria Zakharova, spokesman for Russia's foreign ministry, took aim at Ms Truss after she mistakenly said that Britain will support 'our Baltic allies across the Black Sea' - two different bodies of water more than 700 miles apart.

'Mrs Truss, your knowledge of history is nothing compared to your knowledge of geography,' she wrote in a blog post.
'If anyone needs saving from anything, it's the world, from the stupidity and ignorance of British politicians.'

Another three letters into the 1922 Committee today apparently.

PS DUP fundamentalist Edwin Poots is now breaking the law regarding the Irish border. Brexit as ever means Brexit.

IMO the Saville thing is of a piece with the drone who was directly and exclusively blaming Labour for the relative lack of funding allocated to deprived Northern areas on R4 earlier.

It doesn’t matter if it’s true. This is the post-Trump world we’re in now. Just say it, it doesn’t matter. Some people will believe it, and that’s all you need. You need less than a third of the electorate to win, and you can get that by creating a general feeling. So just say what you like.

So,the tories are "levelling up" 20 or so cities in the Midlands and North.A figure I read of less than was spent on Kings Cross station. The Midlands and North is a damn site bigger than 20 towns and cities and(I haven't checked yet ,so stand to be corrected) it would be typical if most were tory marginal seats
Whatever the sum,it will be a drop in the ocean compared to what they took by cutting the local government grants each year
