Cervical myelitis: anybody else here has it?

Hi,
Thanks for asking :)
Not too good. I’ve just been diagnosed a thrombosis (a clot) in my left leg.
Damn.

Unfortunately I was on fentanyl patches for 14years, dose became ridiculous 175mcg in patches. Changed hospital and new consultant was shocked at previous treatment.
Found impossible to withdraw slowly so I admitted myself to gastro for cold turkey, five weeks of hell. I joke to friends it was like the scene from trainspotting, but it was the worst month of my life, I managed to crack a rib I was thrashing around so much.
Since leaving the strongest thing I’ve taken is paracetamol. Unfortunately my condition is deteriorating so may well have to start using something soon, that or hope for a monoclonal miracle.
I consider myself hardened by emotional scar tissue, and health experience but any opioid should be treated with caution, as millions in USA have found out fentanyl is dangerous stuff.

it is dangerous but can have its uses . not easy to use safely sometimes , especially in the elderly as not easy to get correct dose right always . 14 years ....wow !!! thats a long time . you did well to get off it

nasty . thank goodness for anticoagulants
Yes, I’m starting my shots today before going to bed. My foot hurts too. I hope the injections will calm the pain down before I see the angiologist on Monday. Specialists don’t work on weekends.
If the pain gets worse then it’s A&E I guess.

Exactly what I’m thinking right now.
And three years ago I had a brain stroke out of the blue one day. Almost died because I was misdiagnosed.
I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, my BMI is normal.
So yeah, f…k.

maybe ring 111 for advice rather than a@e . not a nice experience waiting 3 hours in a waiting room

Thank you!
I do stock painkillers for my herniated back. Codeine works best.

Ugh, sounds as if you are in for a nasty weekend. Hope the injections and tablets will help you enough.

Hi,
Update.
The pain is quite something, especially at night.
I can’t walk or drive easily.
The angiologist I saw yesterday found 4 clots in four different veins in my left calf, no less!
The condition is called DVT: deep vein thrombosis.
I’ve been taking heparin for three days and the pain is still here… so are the clots!
Next appointment Monday and blood draw for extensive testing tomorrow.
There, a nasty thing this.

yes DVT is a nasty thing , hopefully they will disperse over time but does take a few months for swelling to subside and symptoms to reduce . oh and watch out if you use a wet shave .... bleeding not so easy to stem

I don't shave!

Sounds more like you ARE having a few close shaves. Sorry, I hate to read about fishies' health prob's but you sound fairly philosophical, and you are, during these exceptional times, getting efficient analysis and treatment; maybe that's because you're in France? Good luck and ride it out (for weight loss, if nothing else?).

PS. Where's the emoji for empathy?

Much appreciated Mike.
Emoji choice is pretty poor on PFM!
I like a bit of humour and yes I'm lucky (I think) to live in France. Weight loss, not really needed, my BMI is fine :p

So you have cervical myelitis, bladder problems and DVT, is that right? Are the doctors making some kind of connection between these conditions?
Anyway, sympathies et bon courage pour la semaine.
