I just learned so much more about Yehudi Menuhin the violinist AND the man. I have now had to search out his recording with Ravi Shankar and Stephane Grappelli

Menuhin's thirst to bridge cultures and geographies so damn IMPRESSIVE.

Currently listening to Menuhin and Grappelli play the jazz popular standards.

A really fascinating programme, preceded by a wonderful look (and listen!) to 'famous violinists at the BBC with the ever-delightful Nicola Benedetti!!
A fab two hours of quality tv (for a change!!)
 
I must confess my knowledge of classical music and musicians is sadly lacking, but I spotted this thread after watching the program myself.
The only reason I had encountered YM before was his collaboration with Stephane Grappelli and various interviews since, but to hear the whole story was fantastic, and what a story it was. As stated by kimmiles above, quality tv.
