yeah, why don't we build a mosque in Mecca??

Didn't the mosque in Mecca fall down this year? What a nice gesture from the EDL lads.

Sorry, did I misunderstand this completely? Did they not mean, "Why don't we build a cathedral in Mecca"? Surely no one would complain if a mosque was built in Mecca?
 
Strangely the EDL don't have a branch in Saudi Arabia. Well if they did they don't now.

Yes, everybody faces the Qabba, which mean the the main mosque is basically circular with the Qabba at the centre.

There are many other mosques in Mecca, scattered around the city or the locals to use near their homes
 
couldn't we just get the Scientologists to move in to one (or several) of their shopping streets, the Saudis wouldn't dare object as John Travolta would star in a B(ol)lock Buster movie about how the "West" invaded and subdued the aliens, oh sorry that would be the 3rd in the franchise.
 
They could, of course, invite Vladimir-Baby to build a Russian Orthodox cathedral in the middle of Mecca (on the corner of Isis Rd and Al Qaeda Ave) with tall onion-dome towers built as gigantic 256-way speakers to play the balalaika calls to communion...

Then invite some charismatic American happy-clappers to build a competing "palace of our Lord" on the opposite corner with 25 gigawatt sub-woofers to make "the Earth move" during rousing sermons.

The scenarios are numerous... :)

Open-market religion and free competition worship! Whoopee!
