Where are the DAC threads? (Nominees for Below $1K US?)

I am surprised by the lack of DAC threads here. To me the hardest part about researching equipment is the DAC question. There are just too many out there at a dizzying array of price levels.

Would anyone like to submit their nominee for best DAC below $1K USD? Or perhaps between $750-$1,000 USD?

Matrix X-Sabre?
TEAC UD-501?
Meridian Director?
ARCAM irDAC?
Yulong DA8 (Slightly more than $1K)?

If you use the search facility ( as all should ) you will find no end of threads on DACs.

But maybe you already knew that?

You are joking I hope! There are millions of posts about the Audiolab and plenty of discussion of DAC's in general.
