The source + amp part of my system is still the same (Naim Nait-5i, SB3/DACmagic), but...

Yesterday I couldn't resist an offer...
I ran into a HiFI-store, where they offered their last pair of NOS Diapason Micra 3's. A small Italian beauty I fell in love with, about 6 years ago. (I got a nice discount price because the shop no longer offered this brand and the Dutch distrubutor just decided to raise the price of these speakers with almost 30%!!)

So,..totally unexpected, today I got "Reunited and it feel so good" :D

(Luckily I still had my old Target HR60 stands left)

How you liking the 1SC's?

They are wonderful little speakers IMO. I can fully understand why they have have such a following. Despite appearances, they definitely don't sound small. They are really open and full of pep whilst still managing to deliver a rounded and well nourished bottom end. You can tell someone lavished much care and attention in designing these little gems :)

Congratulations, Alco, you always spoke fondly of this part of your speaker history. Sit back and enjoy long-term.

Cannot understand why anyone should want a bedroom hifi (or telly for that matter)... I can only envisage two things to do in a bedroom snore and the other :)
not that - sleep!

What is needed is a waterbed with 12 x 1kW monobloc amps driving 12 transducers inserted in the waterbed, then feed this array with JS Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D Minor while fondling...

Sounds ideal. How are you finding the AKGs?

HD.

They are fine, thank you. No "irritation factor". There are a number of reports on the web, and many of them (including a recent review at 6mooons.com) say that these headphones need a lot of current to sound their best -- valves or balanced, or something. One of the more popular headphone amps for it seems to be the Doge 6210 from China, which uses the same type of valves as my Almarro integrated.
