Glad you said that because I never really thought of Rush as Prog either. I'd have them down as retro-rock. I know they have parallels with Yes with subject matter maybe, but they never had the statue of Yes, and you need to have stature to be Prog. The fans were less feminine woodland-hippy and more mullet-haired black leather biker jacket, with no girlfriends. Know what I mean? That was never Prog. Prog had a feminine side and back in the day girls liked Yes, Pink Floyd & King Crimson. Girls never liked Rush or early Genesis, which I guess excludes Genesis too I'm afraid.
