Sondex PCU1 passive pre amp

This looks interesting. I couldn't find much online about the brand. Not sure if it would be a worthwhile upgrade over my Tisbury but it does look better to my eyes.

It may have a good pedigree - but it looks a little 'home made'. The 'bent steel', scratched, Hammerite finished casework may look OK in some situations....

I don't mind the look of it - at least it's a step up from some of the older Croft stuff

It does look a bit like something you'd find at the back of the IT storeroom under a pile of green screen VDUs

Sondex was apparently John Widgery from Woodside/Radford so you'd image it's decent.

As mentioned, it's a Sondex, not a Sonex - the same people that made the S230 integrated amplifier (which is good) and the PCU1 phono stage (which is superb).

I've had a PCU1 and it's quite decent if you like passive preamps.

Just looking at this again and it's quite pleasing that the volume appears to be labelled to show -60db to 0db attenuation.
