Sometimes luck is on your side

Ebay has just gifted me a Tag Mclaren DPA32R (192kHz dacs) for £225+p&p. It arrived today, and running it into the ATC SCM20ATSLs that I've been trying to sell (no more!), the difference over the variable output of an Oppo 103 is extraordinary. I've only used the analogue inputs, so far, from the Oppo (fixed volume), an Aston satellite box and a Cambridge NP30. They're all digital sources, so the next thing to try is the digital inputs, but it's all so much better than the variable Oppo outputs.

See if you can pick up that DVD32R for £200 to go with it!

You then get to what CD can actually do!

You may choose to do it differently in the future with a PC/Dac but it won't get better.

The BP192 doesn't work too well as a DAC for lower quality digital sources since it can't do the jitter rejection of more modern designs but a DVD32R with Sync link eliminates that issue.

I can assure you that the NP30 should sound vastly better via digital as I had one myself.
