Hi all

about to do a deal with a mate for my first digital SLR.

Looking forward to learning all about manual settings of ISO, apeture etc.

Dont have budget left for photoshop, and wondered what is simple, free, easy to use camera software?

Is there such a thing? - or do I need to bite the bullet and find money for photoshop?

Does the manufacturer of the camera offer anything to download? Nearly every piece of computer-connectable hardware I've obtained in the last few years has been well supported, including "obsolete" kit. Some of the software is excellent.

I'm using photo shop 4.

My Dads on 7 now and gave me his previous one.

I don't do that much tbh, just basic straightening as my horizons aren't perfect.

I would say I was trying to draw an arrow a month or so ago. I must have spent a good couple of hours in PS.....no wise at the end.

I got the pic into photo bucket and did it in seconds.

You must be able to get PS 4 for peanuts now.

line tool from the floating menu, in the line tool option, tick the 'arrow' button.

For basic stuff and some workflow management you can also use Picasa (by Google) it is free and will do enough for most people.

Photoshop elements can be found for forty quid. Probably 20x more powerful than photoshop 4 as well.
