Hi,
I bought a pair of second hand Volt B2500.1 drivers for a future loudspeaker project (they were a really good price). Apparently they were in good condition, but on receipt the voice coil on one is rubbing slightly (this may be down to mishandling in transit I suppose): there is quite a lot of mechanical noise when the cone moves in more than a couple of mm. Running it at high excursion and low frequency (10hz or less) produces mechanical noise (scraping/grinding noise). At higher volumes and frequencies it is more of a knocking sound.
The other driver has no such problems.
Before I get in touch with Volt about reconing ($$$), are there any "quick fix" solutions out there that might work?
Cheers,
Edward
