Rega MC Fono DIP switches questions

Okay, this may win the competition for dumbest question of the day, I don't care. I'm trying to experiment with different loading for my cartridge as I've realised I left the Fono on factory default settings when I first set it up. Now I want to ensure my cartridge is loaded correctly I've hit a snag - the settings menu at the back of the Fono refers to the DIP switches being On or Off to achieve different values, but it doesn't say if On (or Off) is Up or Down. Please - someone rescue me from myself!
 
I would expect that on is down, however from googling images it appears that switch 4 is gain - toggle that switch and note which position gives the most gain.
