Pro-ject releases their 60,000th turntable model this year

Pro-Ject are to me at least a pretty frustrating company to fathom.
I’ve heard some of their stuff which sounds very good indeed. Some of their phono stages are blooming great.
The Debut carbon was super for the money, the X1 & X2 are probably as high as most ever need to look.
The higher end Xtension line & RPM10 are fantastic & deserve their places in proper mid-high end systems.
But they just have so many models in their line-up & seem to overlap each other, especially at the lower price points. Some of their build quality is also a bit err basic can we say.
And to be considered as a proper high end brand, as some of their stuff deserves, dabbling in the novelty market probably doesn’t do them any favours.

Can you get it in any colour you like?

Joe
Joe - why has someone stuck plastic wiggly eyes on all the eels. That can't be legal shirley?

Now if they just had a coherent design philosophy, other than just throwing everything against the wall to see which ones stick.

This is just weird...

Considerations for 78 RPM Records

Debut PRO ships with 2 different belts for the belt drive for the electronic speed control. The flat belt is for 33 and 45 RPM discs and is installed on the top/smaller diameter of the motor pulley.

The round belt is for 78 RPM records only. It is designed for use with the larger/bottom pulley diameter with the differently shaped groove. Installing the 78 RPM belt incorrectly compromises its integrity and may lead to breakage. Additionally, please note that it’s also not advisable to play 78 RPM records with the Rainier stylus. Sumiko has developed a 78 stylus for this very reason.

If only 78rpm records were all actually recorded at 78rpm (and before you copy/paste a response, yes, Rega do a fixed speed 78rpm deck as well).
