Klout repair

vicdiaz

Just another analog freak...
Hi,

I'm recapping a Klout for a friend and for some reason one of the channels decided to give me a headache after the recap. The amp blew a fuse as soon as I powered it up (forgot to turn down my Variac). On lower voltage settings I can hear the transformer humming so for sure there is a short circuit somewhere. Years ago I read that it was a common symptom and replacing 'X' component(s) usually fixed the issue, but I cant recall which one(s). Already checked all the new caps orientation and they are good.

Any clues before I start a very long component by component elimination process?

Sounds like a power supply short with trafo straining ,check the rectifier diodes and the regulator power transistors.
