Ive recently found out about this young man.

Lives in london, I believe, and records everything in his own bedroom and plays all the instruments.

Or, at least he used to. He is now getting worldwide recognition and is much in demand from some heavy players and bands.

Huge talent, I feel. Fantastic

Here is some early stuff, which he posted on You Tube.

Another Stevie Wonder tune? Ok then

I do hope not. :(

each to their own, I suppose. No one fits all, in this art form. Luckily.

Just having a google around to find out more about this talented young artist.

seems others like him too. Pan down to see comments.

Found another of his "bedroom" productions

For me, the creativity, imagination and talent of this young man is incredible. He looks about 16 in those clips.

Just fantastic at any age. 16 ish ? Wow !!!!

Yep, each to their own indeed. I'm sure he's hugely talented but not my cup of tea. In fact I'd rather chew my own leg off than listen to him

LOL..............

so, not sure then ?

His music isnt for everyone, and I didnt think it would be when I started the thread.
I was just flagging up an incredible talent and suggesting that this guy and guys like him are where the future lies.

It isnt the fact that he plays all the instruments, impressive as that is.

It is his creativity, his ability to mix different musical genres, his use of and creativity with technology, his use of dissonance/Harmony, his use of rhythm /changing time signatures. etc etc. all with really interesting musical results. IMHO.

Music has always moved forward. Resistance is always there. Luckily guys with talent such as this guy, push through regardless, and their "stuff" becomes accepted.

I love 2 guitarists, one bassist and a drummer (possibly even a token sax player, if the audience are lucky ) playing the blues (for example). That will probably be here for years to come.

But, in my view, the new/exciting/pushing forward stuff, the music of the future, will come from young guys like this who have the talent/creativity and various techniques which will be needed to do so.

SEEKER... here you go.

listen to it all. it goes to lots of different places.

I love the gentleness/harmony of the first 3 minutes, but the really interesting bit for me is from about 3.30, when the rhythmic stuff starts.

12 bar blues it aint. I love it.

Thanks for posting. Looks to be a huge talent with a massive future to me.

I've been watching him for a while. He is hugely talented - so much so that Quincy Jones is his mentor! I've also seen him live and his solo performances are astonishing.

However, can I see myself buying a whole load of albums and listening to them? No. I think his unique talent is music arrangement and production. I can see him as a stellar music producer, just like his mentor.

Not only is Quincy a mentor, he also describes him as:

“I have never in my life seen a talent like this… Beyond category. One of my favourite young artists on the planet – absolutely mind-blowing”
— Quincy Jones

If somebody like Quincy thinks this, with the body of work he has been involved in, then Jacob has to be taken very seriously indeed, whether you like his work or not.

The distinction between producing, arranging and performing these days gets ever muddier. So many chart hits today are amalgams of work under the name of a top 'DJ' who might rip or remix some old work, adds his own instruments to it and then gets/hires/collaborates with a named singer / artist to complete the piece.

Jacob is very talented - no question - and parlaying that to 'success' is more tricky and involves some luck. Yes you can increase your chance of good luck with right 'positioning' and contacts. Quincy link will undoubtedly help - but he still has to link up with many others, who must want to link up, to make 'it' (whatever 'it' is) happen.

Good luck to him.

Just read his Wiki page. Done a lot for a (now) 23 year old! Comes from a distinctly musical background. Seems like he is inhabiting some sort of Jazzy, Fusiony world.

Yeah I found him guesting on a Becca Stevens record, another Jazzy/folky/fusion type of artist who I like a lot.
