how do you reduce the gain of NAIT-1? simply turn down the balance :)

I've had this discovery yesterday when a friend brought his old faithful Nait-1 (modded by yours truly) and requested that I will reduce the gain somehow.
The Naim recipe is simple - at the pre section, look for the 47uF feedback cap and a series 1K res, and just change the res to something like 2.1K - I've done that in various pre's before and it never failed me.
So I have immediately traced the right 1K res, but it was only one, I just couldn't find the other! eventually I realized that the other channel has the balance pot in series with 560 ohm res, as a feedback resistor. I took out the balance pot and changed it with a 2.1K in parallel with 7.5K, worked like magic:D and the Nait just lost 3dB of gain.
