Wot, no electrons?
Anybody got any experience with these? Anybody heard one?

Look pretty, case made from waste plastic, etc., but precious few details concerning the electronics.

Apparently it uses "second life" e-bike Li-Ion batteries.

The website gives some specs etc, I’m guessing the batteries are the good cells from bad packs? It will have to pass safety standards in order to be sold in the first place.
I like the recycled plastic looks.

I had the same concern about the batteries, so emailed them. Got a decent reply, so went ahead and got a Panther one

See the reply below from gomi:

Thanks for reaching out! We appreciate you sharing your concerns with us. Safety is definitely something we take seriously, especially when it comes to recycled batteries. Let us address your concerns and provide you with some information about the safety and certifications of our batteries.

We have a rigorous process of testing and ensuring that the batteries are safe as new batteries. From our tests, we are only able to use around 90% of the second-life cells from e-bikes as 10% usually do not meet our strict quality criteria.

We have done some intense testing and certification procedure with the batteries we make out of second-life cells. We have done couple of UN38.3 test on our battery packs which are made from the second-life lithium cells and they have passed with flying colours. The UN38.3 certification proves that we can legally use these cells in a consumer product. The test does extreme tests on these different aspects(see image attached).

We have been using second-life lithium cells in our products for more than four years. We have successfully produced over 500 products using these cells, and none have had any quality issues due to our safe processes.

We have also made electric go-carts and solar storage options for a off-grid van conversion out of these batteries. And these are still in use to this date and working well. So we are extremely confident with our batteries.

Furthermore, we are proud to say that the UK government is satisfied with the quality to at which we work with second-life lithium cells. As pioneers in using these cells in new consumer products, we are actively engaged in conversations with the government. While there are currently no specific regulations regarding the use of second-life lithium cells, the UK government is satisfied with our safe testing procedures and has allowed us to continue our operations until clear guidelines are established.
