Favourite track of the 80's

There can be only one :)

Easiest decision I have ever had to make

Love this live version, it's a complete mess, timing is off at every turn but somehow it sounds spectacular, the dad dancing just adds to the spectacle.

Ooh. Too many gems from this decade for me to list.

My favourites:
Western Promise - Ultravox
Goodbye 70’s - Yazoo
Photographic (some bizarre mix) - Depeche Mode
Blue Monday - New Order
White Lines - Grandmaster Flash
Fade to Grey - Visage

I could go on and on and on on this thread. I purchased all of the above on their release dates, too!

I worked through an 80's spotify playlist over the last few days, still going through it, so much great stuff.

I was well into electronic/new romantic etc music from that time.

Over 250 12” singles from that era alone!

Surely it's Joe Dolce's Shaddap You Face?
Ok, maybe not. Waaaaayyyy too many to choose from but I'll plump for Simple Minds 12" version of 'Love Song'.

I didn't tune in to the new 80's music as well as I should. Luckily, one of my heroes produced mayby his best album, so it'll be:
Richard Thompson, from the album Amnesia, 'Waltzing's for dreamers'.

I would add the German 12" vinyl of new gold dream, probably the best 12" mix of a track I ever came across.
There is too much, I agree with others here, goes to show the quality & diversity at the time, not so much nowadays unfortunately, some decent stuff around but nowhere near the diversity & individualism of some 30 odd years ago, as an example, currently playing Propoganda - A secret wish, brings back fond memories of clubbing back in the day, they may be hazy, but they are in there somewhere :)

Didn't know there was a 12" version of NGD.
B-side of someone somewhere in summertime12" vinyl, may have been glittering prize, not 100% sure, also on spotify the "themes volume 2" pack, scroll down, near the end, playing it now, superb, vinyl still sounds superior, I have my copy transferred to cdr, it sounds stunning.
Well worth getting hold of.

I am going to have to go with some eurocool here:

Ruth – Polaroid/Roman/Photo

Bal Paré – Palais d'Amour

Kirlian Camera – Blue Room

In order of importance to me, all 12" singles.

America is Waiting - Eno & Byrne
Slippery People - Talking Heads
Marcus Garvey - Burning Spear
It's no game - Bowie
Mr Pharmacist - The Fall
Cars - Gary Numan
Johannesburg - Gil-Scott-Heron
Nightclubbing - Grace Jones
Spasticus Autisticus - Ian Drury
The Lunatics HTOT Assylum - FB3
The Beat - Get A Job
Ghost Town (extended version) - The Specials
Blue Monday - New Order
Racist Friend/Alcohol - The Special A.K.A.
