Evan Parker @ 80

Evan Parker turned 80 last week and it was a joy to attend one his birthday concerts at Cafe Oto over the weekend. I saw him playing first with the field recordings and electronics of Spring Heel Jack then in an astonishing no-holds barred trio with Barry Guy and Paul Lytton.

Popping to Cafe Oto is one of the few things I really miss about living in London. Long may it survive.

Tippett/Noble/Brotzmann in 2014 remains one of the best gigs I’ve been to. Sad to think 2 of them are now gone.
