OP - @Sloop John B where are you starting from and ending up in? Not entirely clear from your post

I'm not entirely clear myself .

It seems that as mentioned on this tread this isn't the quiet period I had anticipated so it's looking like it's best for me to just do the 2 things I have to do, visit god-daughters baby Ronan ( a day old by now!) and then onto my second cousins wedding.

It looks best to stay in the Cotswold for the Gloucester (baby) trip. Lincoln looks a good place to break the trip North.

I'd prefer not to travel in one go from Fishgaurad to the Cotswold so I'd appreciate suggestions for an hotel stop along the way (diversions acceptable).

There seems a nice place in the Cotswold available in Broadway but am open to more suggestions in this area.

We'll just have to leave Wales this time and spend more time there on a future trip.
