He is like one of those small boys who tags on to the gang in the hope you'll let him play footy with the big boys. He dreams constantly of being accepted but he knows in his depths that he never will be so he bothers the grown ups just in case.

I just wonder what that steam-engine-like thingee is all about.
With the last mechanical part I got a bit lost in terms of context.
