DAC options...

Following on my thread about FLAC - it's been suggested I get a decent DAC, maybe a valve one, as what I'm hearing at the moment I'm finding a bit flat.

Any suggestions on what to have a listen to?

I have an Eastern Electric Minimax Dac which has the option of switchable valve and solid state inputs on its front panel plus a decent quality volume control allowing direct connection to a power amp if required. Currently in the classifieds if interested..

We're about to list an ex-demo Hegel HD12 but haven't worked out the price yet, but it's a superb little sounding converter.

You have to listen a few Dac´s and judge yourself!
You´ve got the Rega, Audiolab, Naim, and a few others!The technology in DAC´s and cd players are allways changing.The M2Tech also was a nice dac.

You put pick up a second hand Chord Hugo, or maybe a new Chord 2Qute. Fantastic for the money.

Well worth listening to a Chord DAC. The Chord QuteHD or EX for about £500 s/h or if it's within budget the new 2Qute.
