A thread to recommend decent movies on Netflix / Amazon Prime?

Thoroughly enjoying Escape at Dannemora on Sky Atlantic, a Prison Break drama based on a true story. Never been a fan of Ben Stiller but he does a great job of directing this. Patricia Arquette is excellent.

Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes on Netflix.

Good* viewing so far, 2 episodes in (out of 4).

(*actually a very sad story of this sick psychopath).

I've started watching the documentary of Amazon about the McLaren F1 team, Grand Prix Driver. I've only watched the first two episodes but it's fascinating to see how much goes into modern F1 cars and how little gain there is from all that investment. Admittedly, that might just be McLaren, but still, you know what I mean - marginal gains and all that.

Strongland about guys who heave big stones on to their shoulders, the first episode set in the Basque region was very uplifting. The second one set in Scotland was less engaging, but still interesting.

Really like this thread and’ve managed to gain some good tips. Thanks folks. However, I’m surprised that no one has mentioned The Night Of. I thought that every episode was equally intense and together it was a great series that still lingers after watching it so long ago; it ended with class and didn’t leave you dangling with the inevitable ending of a second series. And, when I saw James Gandolfini’s name in the credits I choked on my popcorn. Check it out if you wanna treat yourself…

The second series of The Orville is on Prime.

The quality is still up there and is proper 'trek' (unlike ST_ colon_D, though episode 2, S2 was quite a traditional Trek story).

Sadly, one of my favourite characters has left. But on the other hand, last weeks ep. had two ST doctors in it!

I just watched Polar myself and by and large, I enjoyed it. Mads was great as ever but I felt it could have been an ever greater film in the hands of Tarantino or even, dare I say it, Guy Ritchie were he to bring his A-game.

Been watching first episode of 'Versace.' Good dramatic crime storytelling, and the opening few minutes, detailing the title-character's Miami Beach lifestyle set in royal-level decor and architecture, are stunning.

Still, not sure I'm up for the next six episodes of flashbacks into the victim's and killer's lives, going back to childhood. We'll see. May skip to last episode.

Another gem that's gone under peoples radar is The Deuce a David Simon and George Pellicanos take on the New York porn industry-a belter.

I began watching 'The Cured' the other night, but couldn't get into it and turned it off after about 25 minutes or so.. :(
