Olympus om2 (automatic) is a good camera i have an om1 (the manual version), om lenses are now fairly cheap and can be used in manual mode (with converter) on the later electronic olympus cameras.
Your wife does not need to be able to turn on a computer any more than she needs a dark room to develop 35mm films. She takes the memory card to be developed instead of a film.
I am sure she knows someone who would put the backup data on a cd or memory stick.
