Tannoys ? Really ? What is it ???

If the auction house forbids opening the back panels, then a bright light into the grille should show if what's behind looks like a Tannoy DC. The dark areas in the photo suggest a single 12 or 15" driver. I see the centre cabinet is described as a TV cabinet by the auction house. Somebody like...

Leaving Sealed Shrink Wrap on LP Records

Mobile Fidelity and some other specialists have (had?) the right idea, with a non-shrinking loose plastic wrap.

    Digitising 78s without a 78rpm turntable

I see a transfer service offered online, using EMT 950 TT with varying carts depending on source disc - 10" discs £12 per side, 12" at £14 per side, and Manual restoration (using Cedar) at £28 per hour. £80 for the cartridge has almost paid for itself.

    Digitising 78s without a 78rpm turntable

In Audacity? Yes, but I haven't investigated them yet. The raw WAV file, as transferred to the Tascam in real time, gets saved, as does the Audacity project made from each WAV, so at any time I can revisit the unaltered source or the completed project, and modify it further

    Digitising 78s without a 78rpm turntable

I had been harbouring thoughts for a while of digitising some or all of my Dad's 78s, which had been languishing in a cupboard in the family home since the 1980s or so, and which had languished in a corner of my music room since the early 2000s. I've been editing audio files with Audacity for...

Win 10, CD/DVD drive, also disappeared for me. I've tried a few fixes from various Win forums, but no luck yet. Replaced SATA cable to no avail. Power getting to it, open/close mech is fine Will post later with what I've tried, and any solution that I find.
