I've done my two Hicaps with Kemet 22000uF 63v caps - the diameter's right they're just about an inch shorter, so you don't end up with much showing outside the clamp. Foolishly, I didn't take an "after" picture...

I used Kemet when I did my 160's/Hicaps/Snaps at the start of the year. IIRC at least some of them came from Mouser (uk), so should be available over your side of the ocean.

I think if you want to upgrade more than just the phono boards, you'll need a 32.5 or 72, as the 42.5/62 aren't modular apart from the phono boards.

Check you've got continuity of the audio pins through the sockets of the Hicap (with the power off) and (as wd40addict said) that you're getting the right voltages on the 5 pin socket. Also check what the NAP is supplying from it's DIN socket. I had an issue with the relay card in my Nac 32.5...
