He has - and he'll probably return them. Both units are brand new from an authorised dealer. The same one I use. We're just curious as to what might be causing this - is it a faulty unit or something else. He's in a bit of a bind as he's 50 miles away from the dealer. So trying other units only...

Happy owner of a new Rega Planar 6 with Ania cartridge. Just a couple of questions: What's the best tracking force for the Ania? I have an Aria (using MC obvs) phono stage - what are the best setting on this for the Ania? Whilst playing records - Dust cover on or off? Cheers. Luke

So I went into James Morrow this afternoon and they reckon my Elicit R is fine, so no need to send back to the factory. Anyway, I ended up demoing and then buying an Aria!

Thanks WAD62 I'm using the Rega DAC's SPDIF input as the USB is limited to a 16/48 sample rate (plus my streamer, a Popcorn Hour A400 doesn't have a USB audio output). Like you say, it's DAC dependant, so I don't want to buy it and realise there was already something in my DAC doing the job...
