    Record Shops

Thanks for the tip. I'd like to spend a bit longer next time and walk around a bit more. I hadn't realised that Presto Music is there as well. I;ve bought quite a lot from them online before. It's another place to add to my weekend away list (but I'll keep as quiet as possible about it!)

    Record Shops

I popped in yesterday and thought it was great. Nice place and selection. As you say the prices were good too - I could have saved quite a bit if I wasn’t already up to date with my BN Classic and TP collections! The rugby was on in the bar area downstairs and it was a good atmosphere. It was...

    Record Shops

That's a coincidence! I'm staying near there at the moment, and have literally just Googled local record shops to visit (as I always do when in a new area of the country) and this was the first one that came up. I'm hoping to visit tomorrow!

Jazz Reissues (Individual and short runs)

There seems to be very little information on this series. I've looked for a couple of them on Discogs, but they don't seem to be listed as individual releases yet. I bought a couple anyway. Steamin' is on at the moment and the overall sound quality is good but my individual copy has quite a lot...

Anti-static inner sleeves for vinyl after wet cleaning

I moved from the Nagoaka 102 to Katta inners when the former became difficult to get. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Katta-Static-Inner-sleeves-singles/dp/B073WWY8MR?tag=pinkfishmedia-21 The Nagaoka are probably slightly better, but it's close and the Katta are less than half the price.

    Amazon - vinyl record packaging

Thanks. That's a good tip, I might look at Juno for new releases gong forward.

    Amazon - vinyl record packaging

On a (tenuously) related note, has anyone who orders new releases regularly from Amazon noticed that they now tend to arrive on the following Tuesday, four days later than the Friday release date? It doesn't normally bother me, but there have been a few that I'd like to listen to asap...

    Amazon - vinyl record packaging

Totally agree. I've spent a lot with Juno over the years and not had many problems, but when there has been one the resolution isn't the best. The base offer for items that are damaged appears to be keep the item and have a 10-15% store credit, which is fine, but for some records I'd rather pay...

    Amazon - vinyl record packaging

I must admit, I sometimes wonder that. I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, but if I look through my account, there are hardly any returns apart from records, and there are a LOT of them. Admittedly that is often down to warping or other manufacturing defects as opposed to damage during delivery...

    Amazon - vinyl record packaging

The ones that you really have to be careful of are the listings that state ‘packaging reveals what is inside’, but doesn’t give you the option to ship in Amazon packaging. That combination will get you a delivery with the address label stuck directly to the shrink wrap on the record with no...

Warps on 'premium' records - getting worse?

The Classic Series is definitely better than TP/AS in this regard. I'm still trying to get a flat copy of Pre-Vird on AS, and am worried that Amazon will start questioning my return rate before I get one!

Warps on 'premium' records - getting worse?

Thanks all. What actually ma They were two of the only ones recently that I got good copies of first time, so it just shows how random it is.

Warps on 'premium' records - getting worse?

Apologies, I know that this has been done to death, but has anyone else noticed a recent uptick in the number of warped records they are getting from the higher priced reissue labels? I get a very high percentage of warped records with 'standard' issues and generally accept it unless it affects...

    Pricing gone crazy

The price of a lot of releases have gone crazy recently. I was looking at the new Chemical Brothers album that comes out this week. The vinyl was advertised at £40, which I assumed was for the 3LP 45RPM version. In fact it's £40 for the bog standard 2LP 33RPM, the 3LP is £60!

    Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissues

The second copy arrived and is much better. There are two small audible bits on side 2, but nowhere near as bad as the first one. Turning Point is fine fortunately.
