Lp12, Old Style Motor with endcap lubrication ?

I've had a chance to try a number of lubricants I've found about the place. Here are my findings... Moly Grease (Axle grease): This did ok but I found the sound a little disappointing. Music sounded slow and thick. White Lithium Paste: Very good. If anything it sounded the opposite of the...

Lp12, Old Style Motor with endcap lubrication ?

No. It's only purpose is to keep dust and dirt out of the motor, there are no parts in contact with the motor spindle. The old style (pre 1985) have a spring loaded bearing..

Lp12, Old Style Motor with endcap lubrication ?

Hello All I have an older Lp12 that is experiencing some motor noise. I have consulted the dealer manual and added a drop of sewing machine oil to the motor. In removing the lower end cap, a black plastic thimble sized cap with a spring loaded ball bearing, I have noticed that it is...

    Linn Sondek Upgrade Advice

I would keep the Lp12 as it is. Have it looked over by a good dealer and replace the addict with an AT95. After that I would continue to buy more Lp's and enjoy the deck as is, or, if you get bored, try reading a book. bye

    Getting the Linn Bounce !

Anyone up for a p clip thread ? Ha ha. I just go by thee Linn manual and make sure the cable does not influence the sub chassis motion. Any more tips would be more than welcome from this quarter ! More on the bounce thing from this "inexpert".. I have owned Linn decks for almost 20 years...

    Getting the Linn Bounce !

Really. Which non suspension did you buy ? Just curious. I've owwned a buttload of decks of all kinds but I keep coming back to the classic. 20 years ago, people were into Linns and it was some other deck that was 'better' but nobody can remember which one...

    Getting the Linn Bounce !

One thing I've learned after years of fiddling,.. talking to experts,.. ect. There is no easy correlation between what you see the deck doing (while bouncing) and how it sounds. Decks that had iffy bounces have sounded great and sometimes a stunningly perfect motion yields disappointing...

    Getting the Linn Bounce !

We usually hear that you need to play with it until it's just right. Anyone tried orienting the springs so that the ends point away from the centre spindle ? Theory is this pulls the sub chassis equally in all directions. I've had decent results doing this in a pinch. Sometimes better than...

Anyone Ever Taken Apart Dual 1019 Tonearm or Similar ?

That seems like more than I expected. I'm Using a AT95 with good results. It's not one of those decks that 'blows you away' on first listen, but it does grow on you. Still no luck getting the auto changer mech to work, but for what I paid, I'm not complaining. IT

One channel Out on Dual 1019

Hi, I have a question and I hope someone can help me. Got a tt that only plays one channel (left)through both speakers. I've checked everything and the problem may be in the headslide. I've noticed that in the headslide there is a small wire connecting the red and white ( left and...

Pot cleaning on a NAIM 32.5

Sorry. No idea. In my experience, the knob twiddling works, if not at first, then over time, eventually the problem goes away.
