The best audio system on earth?

Reading this entire thread…so far…ranging from comments on how good /bad a hifi show system reproduced recorded music to philosophical musings on the reality of existence and comments on God …astronaut or deity 😉, and slapping hifi personalities/ dealers/ brands… {and on other threads}, surely...

    Revisiting the Zeta

Nice, don’t hear much about PT anniversaries… I ran a mechanic on a voyd TT for a number of years, worked well… although both the zeta and mechanic do really make a case for use on a non suspended table…preferably with some ‘mass’ … my NA mentor really sang with a zeta/ mechanic ….

    Revisiting the Zeta

That was a good deal…. I'd do the following – just the usual Clean it ;) Check all connections and see if the earth wire is in place in the arm tube Bearings - no free play or rattling? arm moves smoothly? no sticking? anti skate dial - smooth? It’s not that useful though… get that...

MC Cartridges for a Zeta Tonearm on a Linn LP12

Decca. Low compliance moving coil…think denon, ortofon. the zeta (and mechanic) were designed with Deccas in mind.

    Revisiting the Zeta

Ooh, nice..that’s a series 1 mechanic, with the crappy finger lift, that Mission insisted was added, so GB tools drilled a hole in the head shell for a removable finger lift…(sounds better without) and arm tube holder is crap too. Counterweight was improved later.

Had a Kelvin labs integrated…lovely amp…wish I’d never let it go.

    Revisiting the Zeta

Those cheap mechanic s/n stickers on the base … was supposed to be engraved but mission weren’t bothered . I can’t be sure but serial numbers may be a red herring as Mick told me that quite a few zetas and mechanics were lobbed (his words) as ‘crap’ !

    Revisiting the Zeta

By the way, I used to run a voyd turntable with a zeta, excellent combination with a 103r, then had a NA mentor with a graphite platter with Mechanic and deccas. Also a great deck . Mick considered building a direct drive motor ! Alas, not to be

    Revisiting the Zeta

I no longer have any of those photos , but all were prototype arms from late 90s to around 2005 ish The cobra clone was mick doing his version , easy to do apparently, sounded ok. The new generation mechanic zeta is the zeta s prototype , tool steel and aluminium , sounded promising . The dark...
