I've come across a pair of Wharfedale E30 speakers. They're in good cosmetic, but poor operating condition - I suspect at least one bass cone is blown in each unit. Each unit has 3 cones, a front bass port, and a control of some kind - any information on these distinctive looking beasties...

I didn't, actually. I didn't find them to offer anything over the kit I've got, and found their condition to be a bit... distressed. But I think I've found another pair of far more interesting speakers. There will be a thread shortly :D

I've got a Yaqin 6v6 that I got through the classifieds here. The chinese valves are... ok. The seller I bought from bundled some Russian Electro Harmonix valves which make a big difference to the sound. The build quality of the unit is very, very good indeed. Lots and lots of brushed...

And yes, apparently it's the teak surround one too :(

I just phoned the lady and cancelled. I found a couple of examples of the deck alone going for up to £200, I would have felt like a right thief taking a complete system for £120. I like hi-fi, but I like to be able to sleep when I turn it off. Meh.

I think I shall have a pop on this one - even if I sell the receiver and speakers. Although - I am hoping the speakers will be "nice" with my Yaqin valve amp. I shall give more information as I find it. On the mercenary side - if I do pick this kit up - is there any interest in Tuner...
