    [FS] Tag Mclaren 100x5r

As above but has been converted to 4 channels by Kevin Green. In very good condition, complete with remote. The only downside is I took the cover off to tighten one of the loudspeaker terminals and broke a small capacitor between the chassis and the speaker terminal. Intended to take back to...

    Exposure 2010S2D

Does anyone have any experience of this integrated amplifier? And more specifically how Ruark Talisman 2's would work with it? Source is a modified Alpha 5 CD player. I tried an Exposure xxv but found I really had to turn the volume up to get decent results. I'd like something that would...

Suitable integrated amp for Ruark Talisman 2

Many thanks for the input. I really do want a remote control and a newer model amp (I really don't want to be recapping etc. to be honest). Exposure seems to be a popular choice. How do the newer Exposure amps compare with the xxv (with remote!) for example? One of the newer Yamaha/Marantz...

Suitable integrated amp for Ruark Talisman 2

My comments with regard to Arcam are partly a result of reviews and partly a result of having owned a Delta 90, which I personally thought was very dark and a little slow, may not have been helped by other components in the system (probably an Alpha plus CD and a variety of ported standmounts)...

Suitable integrated amp for Ruark Talisman 2

Looking for a suitable (reasonably priced) integrated amp for the Talismans. Budget up to £500 new or used. I will be using a modified Alpha 5+ CD. Would like a remote. I have tried Audiolab and Naim but wasn't hugely convinced. I suspect I need a full or 'warm' sounding amp. I had thought...

Arcam Alpha plus CD player skipping

In yet another effort to downsize I've obtained an Arcam Alpha plus CD player. Trouble is it skips on tracks near the start consistently (it was fine on demo of course...) Is this likely to be a transport issue or would recapping help? All looks ok inside as far as I can tell and the laser is...

    Ruark Talisman 2 crossovers

I'm looking at 'servicing' the crossovers on my Talismans (they're getting on a bit now!). Before I start, is there any advice on: Where to obtain the components required and what type of components are required. Is there anything to be gained from replacing the cables used inside the cabinet...

    Chimney advice!

Am in the process of getting someone to look at he work/situation. Many thanks again for all the advice/replies. I do think I'm well shot of the previous builder...

    Chimney advice!

I had a bird stuck in the upstairs bedroom vent - managed to take the vent off and it flew out of the window!

    Chimney advice!

Surprise surprise the builder has just blown me out..... I think I was asking too many questions (and expecting things to be done properly)….. A relief he won't be coming back, but sad I've wasted money on a crap job :( He's suggested getting a structural engineer in as he had shown pictures...

    Chimney advice!

Fair comment, maybe I'm just cynical due to some bad experiences with builders!

    Chimney advice!

I do notice there appears to be a trend to have walls plaster boarded, part of me thinks that in some cases it could just be papering over the cracks?

    Chimney advice!

The chimney projects about 15 inches into the room and is about 45 inches wide. The 3 brick hole was used for pipework to a back boiler. The builder is coming back this week, I have expressed concerns and ideally would like the void fully bricked up. The chimney has vents elsewhere and the...

    Chimney advice!

I think what the builder meant was that if I removed the plasterboard (which I'm tempted to do) it would very likely pull the render away and may dislodge the bricks behind, thus causing the chimney to collapse. I do find it a bit odd as the bricks shouldn't get dislodged if they were mortared...
