    Naim dac hissing

just to follow up on the latest comments and thanks guys keep them coming. No know changes/modification have been made, so it's a mystery why there's this hiss. I've debugged it as far as I can so the next steps are getting someone to have a look at it. In terms of the vendor. Already spoken...

    Naim dac hissing

Thanks again. Swapping the cable had no effect so looks like back to the repair options. Thanks all though for great support.

    Naim dac hissing

Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated. Hissing is present only on the channel the dac is connected to and it goes if the dac is powered down or removed. When th dac is connected and powered the hissing is present irregardless if the dac has an input connected itself. The dac is...

    Naim dac hissing

Looking for some debugging advice. Just picked up a ndac (from one the guys on here) and it’s working beautifully except for a hissing on the left channel. The hissing is only present when the dac is connected. Switch it off and the hissing goes away. I’ve removed as much as possible...

    LP12 secure lid

Thanks guys. Really helpful. Never thought of the baby clamps. Genius.

    LP12 secure lid

Would anyone have an ideas how to make the lid on a LP12 lockable or fully secure. I have an autistic son who is fascinated by the turntable and as you can imagine some potentially expensive fiddling with the cartridge is going to happen at some stage unless I make the turntable lid secure. I...

    SL2 tweeter replacement

Short update. Got falcon to send over 2 scan speak tweeters from the same batch and sequential serial numbers. Now fitted. Sl2 are singing again. Perhaps the matched pair would be better but still they sound fab to my ears. Thanks for all opinions.

    SL2 tweeter replacement

This is not what Falcon have confirmed to me though. They have promised to same a pair from the same production batch and with sequential numbers of possible but they do not pair match. Anyway I am tempted to go that way but I just want to make sure the tolerances are within reasonable...

    SL2 tweeter replacement

Indeed. Spoke to them already but would ideally like to understand the difference between the idea Matched pair from naim versus the falcon ones which are from the sameproduction batch. I suspect not much but it might be enough to make the naim option viable. Anyway will look into the actual...

    SL2 tweeter replacement

Barry, most probably wise words. Just that I am an engineer so a little look is intriguing. Then I'll decide what to do. For sure, the safe option is to go the official naim route. It grates though how much they add to the basic tweeter price when I might be able to get it done by myself...

    SL2 tweeter replacement

Not yet I'll take it out and have a look. Thanks for the tip, very kind!

    SL2 tweeter replacement

Thanks sir. I'll let you know on that score. And yes if you have a guru to hand who could shed some insight I would be very grateful.

    SL2 tweeter replacement

So the price difference is £110 ish for Oem ones within the same production batch or £460 from naim for "matched pairs". Pretty tempted to go the Oem route for that difference. Or am I missing something critical?

    SL2 tweeter replacement

Thank you Tony. Very insightful. I'll dig out the naim service price and compare with the £60 per tweeter scanspeak's web site was quoting on them. I don't mind a bit of solder work so if naim's price is extreme I have a good alternative. Thanks again Tony and Barry.
